Mention African Song and most Americans think of South African practitioners of the vocal arts - Solomon Lindy, Miriam Makeba and perhaps more than anyone else in recent memory, 10 member vocal ensemble, Ladysmith Black Mambazo. In a career that has spanned nearly thirty years they have recorded forty albums and sold over six million records. Their first US album Shaka Zulu won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Folk Album. In 2005 they were awarded their second Grammy Award for Best Traditional World Music Recording for the release Raise Your Spirit Higher.
