The splendid gift of Portugal to the world of jazz, talented songwriter and jazz musician Luisa Sobral is in Ankara for the first time to show us 'love at first listening'. The live performances of Sobral full of her soft voice; peaceful, romantic and authentic style and positive energy evoke admiration all around the world. We are happy to host the 26 year-old young musician, praised as Billie Holiday of Portugal, in the 17th International Ankara Jazz Festival. We appreciate the support of Turmaks.
Luisa Sobral writes her own songs since her years at the Berklee College of Music that she has graduated from in 2009 and attracts attention with her romantic and authentic style. Sobral, assembling genres of jazz, soul and pop in her music, has received platinum record with her debut album The Cherry on My Cake in 2011. She continues her great success with her brand new album There's a Flower in My Bedroom, in which she signs her name under all of the songs. In this album, also Jamie Cullum known as the 'young Sinatra', one of the important voices of fado Antonio Zambujo, and international piano star Mario Laginha accompanies Luisa Sobral.
She has become the first Portuguese artist taking stage as the live broadcast guest of Jools Holland on BBC. Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany, UK, Morocco and China are among her recent concert stops.
