Melis Sökmen is an experienced vocal, whose pop-jazz albums and jazz covers we love. She is an artist who is on stage since the 1980s as she continuously renews herself. In this free open air concert, she is going to perform from her latest album 'Hediyem' and jazz covers. We appreciate the support of Armada.

Melis Sökmen passed her early youth years with guitar, bale, dance, and musicals and started her professional music career with Grup Lokomotif. The group ranked second in 1986 1st Kuşadası Golden Pigeon Song Contest, first in 1987 Eurovision Song Contest Turkish Finals, second in 1991-92 Eurovision Song Contest Turkish Finals, and received awards in international song contests. In 2004, she participated in the 1st Girne Jazz Festival with Billy Paul, Tony Jones, Michael Brown, and Okan Ersan. In 2005, she shared the stage with musicians like Billy Cobham, Tony Jones, Yvonne Sanchez. Her album O Zaman (1990) is the first pop-jazz album in Turkish. After 18 years, she is greeting her audience again with her 4th album Hediyem, released in 2013. Moreover she continues to take stage with her R&B, Latin, soul, and blues repertoire.

At this concert, she will be accompanied by a group of musicians trained in Ankara. Onur Aymergen, the musical director of Hediyem is on guitar; Evren Karakul, is on piano; Emre Topak, a jazz musician whom we have hosted in a previous festival with the project 'Tribass', is on bass; and a young talent Burak Durman is on drums.
