Sarp Maden is one of the most prominent figures of jazz guitar in Turkey and the other is Çağlayan Yıldız. We hosted them many times since the first concerts in Ankara Jazz Festival. This time they will be with us as Trio Mrio and will make their modern audience quite pleasant. Sarp Maden also the founder of Trio Mrio has released 3 albums throughout his career. Talented musician worked with leading names such as Erkan Oğur, Şevval Sam. Volkan Öktem is also one of the most famous drummers in Turkey.
Sarp Maden was born in 1968. He started playing guitar at the age of 15. He studied at Saint Joseph Highschool (1979-1987), Boğaziçi University Department of Psychology (1987-1990), Bilkent University Department of Music (1990-1991). Çağlayan Yıldız was born in 1966. He studied at Amsterdam School of the Arts Department of Jazz Guitar and Jazz Composition. After 2003 he has canalized Contemporary Classical and Electronic Music and got a bachelor degree from Utrecht University. In 2006 he got European Master of Media Arts ve Composition in Contexts masters degree from the same university. In 2012, he started doing his doctorate in Composition at Bilkent University, accordingly he has quitted his job at Bilgi University.Volkan Öktem was born in 1970, İzmir. His curiosity on drums started at the age of 7. Öktem was playing drums in various orchestras when he was 12. He went to Ankara in 1985 and worked with many rock and pop bands. He has performed in many different music styles such as folk music, pop, rock, latin, funk, fusion, jazz, acid jazz.
