The legendary Laço Tayfa again! The Laço Tayfa team is going to be on stage with a repertoire that group's drummer Volkan Öktem has prepared especially for the festival. The band that presents traditional music from Black Sea to Thrace with a rich and innovative base and its live performance is a real parade of virtuosos. We would like to thank NUROL HOLDING, FNSS and SERENAS for supporting this concert.
Laço Tayfa started its journey with the In the Buzzbag album, recorded by 8 virtuoso musicians together with Brooklyn Funk Essentials. The album which merged Turkish music with Western forms like jazz, funk and reggae has been released in Turkey and the US. Bergama Gaydası (2000) and Hicaz Dolap (2002) albums that were recorded solo by the band, followed the first one. Bergama Gaydası was distributed worldwide.
Volkan Öktem, born in İzmir in 1970, has played in more than 100 albums. He gave concerts with many important musicians like Fahir Atakoğlu, Aydın Esen, John Scofield and Bendik Hofseth. In 1996 he made an album with his ethnic jazz group Habbecik; in 1999 he joined Laço Tayfa; in 2004 he recorded One a Day album with Aşkın Arsunan. The fusion jazz group that he formed called Trio Mrio in 1996 continues its journey as Quartet Muartet with 9 Parça (2004) and 9 Parça Daha (2007) albums.
