Turkish Air Forces Eagles of Jazz Orchestra - Soloist: Fatih Erkoç

Turkish Air Forces Jazz and Dance Orchestra was founded in 1961. Through its long history it performed at many festivals, concerts, radio-TV shows in and out of Turkey receiving much acclaim from critics. Lieutenant colonel Stanley, the trumpet player of the Glenn Miller orchestra, admired the Air Forces Dance and Jazz Orchestra so much so that he in 1962 brought the Orchestra a repertoire made of timeless pieces to be listened to at all times. The Air Forces Dance and Jazz Orchestra was awarded 'the orchestra of the year' in 1969, 1970 and in 1974. Turkish Air Forces Jazz and Dance Orchestra representing the Turkish Air Forces have since been performing concerts successfully in various Turkish cities. The name of the orchestra which also gave concerts at The Ankara, Izmir and in Zonguldak jazz festivals, have changed its name ,with the directive of the Air Force Commander Faruk Comert, as 'Cazın Kartalları' (Eagles of Jazz)'.

Fatih Erkoç, who can play more than ten musical instruments started his music education in İstanbul Municipal Conservatory and gave his first concert with İstanbul Gelişim Orkestrası in 1971. Later on, he went to Norway and worked with several Scandinavian orchestras. In 1985 and 1989 he won the first prize in Kuşadası Golden Pigeon Song Contest with his compositions. Between 1987 and 1995 he attended Eurovision Turkish eliminations again with his own compositions. In the late 1980s he started to work with TRT Hafif Müzik ve Caz Orkestrası (TRT Jazz Orchestra) as a vocalist and trombone player. The orchestra gave numerous concerts and attended many festivals abroad. He released solo albums with pop music themes in 1987, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1999, 2005 and 2007. Now he meets jazz lovers with monthly concerts in İstanbul Jazz Center.
